在雅思口语和写作考试中一个重要的评分标准就是词汇多样性(lexical resource)。为了帮助考鸭们提升词汇多样性，有一些雅思老师都会建议大家多使用恰当的同义替换词。
同义替换词，是雅思考试中一个核心考点，在听说读写四项中都有涉及。使用同义替换词能帮你避免重复使用同一个单词，向考官展示你的词汇丰富度，还能帮你在雅思写作中成功改写题目。
不少考鸭只记住了“使用同义替换词”，却没记住要“恰当”使用，导致大家经常会在替换的时候用错词汇。 虽然你不觉得尴尬但作为英语母语者的考官看到或听到之后，简直要尴尬得脚趾抠地了!
同义替换的错误示范
错误替换一
原题：It is important that young children are taught art, drama and music, alongside more traditional subjects like maths and science. Do you agree or disagree?
改写题目：It is important that young people are taught extracurricular activities, alongside serious subjects like mathematics, biology and chemistry.
在这个改写题目句中这位同学多处使用同义替换：
×young children-young people
×art, drama and music-extracurricular activities
×traditional-serious
×science-biology and chemistry
虽然这种替换意识值得鼓励，但上述同义替换要么将范围扩大、要么将范围缩窄，实际意思已经发生改变。比如将children范围扩大到people，将science范围缩小到biology and chemsitry，这并不是同义替换反倒像包含关系。
错误替换二
原题：The growth in crime among teenagers can be attributed to an increase in the use of violent video games.
改写题目：The rise of acts of violent in young ones are often viewed as being caused by the exposure to fierce audio-visual games.
这个改写句中也用了不少同义替换：
growth-rise
×crime-acts of violent
×teenagers-young ones
×violent-fierce
×video games-audio visual games
除了第一个替换是正确的，剩下的替换都是错误的。‘crime’和‘acts of violent’也是包含关系，而剩下几个则是意思并不完全对应。
比如‘young ones’和‘teenagers’，看起来都是年轻人的意思，但‘young ones’这种表达很口语化，本身不适合在写作中出现;另外它也不完全是青少年的意思，在语义上有所偏颇。 |
