It takes centuries for the inhabitants of the planet to transform into a civilized society. The traditions and norms that were considered as a great value are gradually replaced by modern etiquette and manners. Being a citizen of democratic society, one has the right to express their own feelings, such as making noise, but others believe that the freedom of expression in high decibel should be regulated. This essay will delve into both views before presenting an opinion.
On the one hand, it is argued that civilians have their own right to do whatever they like. This is their fundamental right and making noise is one of them which should be the choice of an individual. For example, in sporting events, such as soccer game, inspectors and cheer leaders make noises and yell as much as possible for their players and this high decibel reflects their passion and support. For another, at birthday party, family members and friends make decibels to their peak for celebrating this moment and the recipient understand this noisy situation. Therefore, under certain circumstance, some noises can be understandable.
On the other hand, to be quiet is one of the civil etiquette and manners which show respect to the neighbors and others who may be easily distracted from what they are doing. To be more specific, the relationship between neighbors would be worsen if there were high decibel of noise from an overnight party. And this is to violate the laws and regulations which were implemented to guarantee the security and harmony of the whole society. So, it is the obligation of government to warn civilians of their illegal behaviors because they distract and discomfort individuals who are sick, studying or sleeping and so on. For example, in UK, one can be jailed if disturbing their neighbors through loud music or quarrel.
To recapitulate, the aforementioned provides strong argument in favor of both views. I believe that noise level should be regulated in some certain areas, like residential areas, and other public ones while one should be allowed to express or even vent their strong feelings under certain circumstance, like sports stadium and other celebration which should be warranted in advance.
